Taste of Westmeath is the food and drink Network designed to champion County Westmeath, which was formed by a collaboration of food and drink representatives and Westmeath Community Development.
The purpose of the group is to connect local food and drink producers, promote sustainable food and drink production, facilitate resource and idea sharing, advocate for the interests of members at local, regional, and national levels and enhance visibility and branding of Westmeath-produced food and drink products.
What are the benefits?
There is a range of benefits that will flow from membership ofTaste of Westmeath. Some of these will be immediate, others will take time to deliver. We are confident that, once membership grows, we will be able to raise the profile of Westmeath food and drink and drive visitor traffic to businesses in Westmeath.
A brief summary of the benefits of membership is shown below:
- A listing on Taste of Westmeath website – which will be heavily promoted and linked to tourism events.
- Free or low-cost training and upskilling.
- The opportunity to become involved in business networking events.
- The opportunity to build business collaborations to jointly benefit businesses in different sectors in Westmeath.
- The opportunity to become involved in food activities and food events in order to promote your business and the aims of Taste of Westmeath.
- The ability to jointly sell Westmeath as a food destination, increasing tourism and visitor traffic to the county.
- Promotion via social media
Membership
There are 2 categories of membership: Full Membership | Associate Membership (for retailers and hospitality sector)
Full Membership
Criteria for Full Membership below
- The business produces a food or drink product in Co Westmeath
- The business produces a food or drink product in Co Westmeath or lives in Co Westmeath
- The business uses Westmeath ingredients where possible and Irish ingredients where Westmeath ingredients are not available, if possible.
- Have all the necessary documentation in place regarding food safety, health & safety and insurance
- Be in good standing with Revenue and all the regulatory bodies.
Associate Membership
Criteria for Associate Membership below
- This category of membership is open to any business that supports the Westmeath food industry through the purchase of the produce of Westmeath Food Producers Network members for resale via a retail outlet or restaurant, café, hotel or other food service entity.
- Supporting Members have the right to attend and speak but do not have the right to vote at a General Assembly.
All memberships must be approved by the Membership committee.
